Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF)

The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation, known as GLEIF, is a not for profit organisation established to support the implementation and use of the Legal Entity Identifier, or LEI. The LEI is a global identifier that helps establish a clear and consistent view of legal entities participating in financial transactions and other business activities.

Based in Basel, Switzerland, GLEIF works with a global network of accredited LEI issuing organisations and partners to improve transparency and trust in the global marketplace. Its work supports more reliable entity identification, helping financial institutions, businesses, regulators and other organisations better understand who they are dealing with across borders.
