EBRD provides a €25 million loan to TradeAgra to support sustainable agriculture in Kazakhstan
- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is granting a senior loan of up to €25 million to TradeAgra and affiliated companies within the TBF Holding Group, a leading privately owned agricultural commodity trader in Kazakhstan.
- The financing will support seasonal working capital needs for procurement, processing, storage, transport, and export of agricultural commodities.
- The loan aims to increase trading volumes of organic agricultural crops, promoting improved soil health, reduced fertiliser use, and more sustainable farming practices in Kazakhstan.
- A €500,000 investment grant under the EBRD’s Agrifood Nexus programme, funded by Germany’s International Climate Initiative, will encourage organic exports and stimulate demand for organic production.
- EBRD-supported technical cooperation will enhance sustainability and inclusivity in agricultural supply chains through training for staff and farmers, outreach to women farmers, and more inclusive procurement practices.
- The EBRD has invested over €11.7 billion in Kazakhstan across 358 projects, primarily supporting private-sector development.
