New B2B payment system in development to enable stablecoin payments for Korean exporters

  • BDACS and Devall Co. are jointly developing a stablecoin-based payment and settlement system allowing overseas buyers to pay Korean exporters in stablecoins, with proceeds settled in Korean won.
  • The system integrates invoice issuance, payment, and settlement in a one-stop process, enabling exporters to receive payments faster and at lower cost without holding digital assets.
  • BDACS will provide stablecoin custody services, while Devall Co. will handle invoice issuance, payment verification, reconciliation, and electronic tax documentation.
  • The companies plan to link payment and settlement data with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to automate accounting processes.
  • The system aims to reduce fees and shorten settlement times compared with conventional international transfers and may incorporate “KRW1,” a won-denominated stablecoin issued by BDACS.
  • Regulatory frameworks on foreign-exchange reporting, taxation, anti-money laundering, and sender verification remain to be finalized before commercialization; pilot transactions with Korean exporters are planned to verify safety and efficiency.
