Digital technologies are changing the way we live, work, and trade. As WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala often says, the future of trade is digital, and it must be inclusive.
Pre-Shipment Finance is a type of short-term trade finance that supports exporters in fulfilling purchase orders or contracts before shipment takes place. This funding is used to pay for raw materials, labour, production, packaging, and other preparatory costs. It helps bridge the working capital gap between receiving an export order and the shipment of goods. Pre-shipment finance can be in the form of packing credit, advance against export orders, or export letter of credit-backed lending. By easing upfront financial pressure, it enables exporters to operate efficiently and meet delivery timelines, enhancing competitiveness in international markets.
