Jonathan Burke, Author at Trade Treasury Payments

Jonathan Burke is the Managing Director and Global Head of Banking Sanctions Compliance at Citi, overseeing sanctions compliance across its global banking businesses. With nearly 20 years in foreign policy and financial services, he has experience in both the U.S. government and private sector. At the U.S. Treasury Department, he helped design and implement U.S. sanctions policy and worked with global financial institutions on AML and sanctions risk management.

Most recently, he was the regional head of sanctions compliance for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Citigroup, managing 50 people and overseeing compliance across 55 countries, including Russia and Ukraine during the 2022 G7 sanctions response. He collaborated closely with U.S., U.K., and E.U. officials on implementing novel sanctions measures.
