UK finance leaders face gap between AI deployment and value measurement in cash management

- Finance teams spend an average of 16.2 hours each week gathering, reconciling and validating cash-position data before sharing it with senior stakeholders, reducing capacity for higher-value analysis.
- Two-thirds of finance leaders say investment decisions are sometimes made without a complete picture of available liquidity, whilst 97% report increasing accountability for cash and liquidity outcomes even when underlying systems sit outside direct control.
- Accuracy, explainability or governance concerns are limiting AI adoption for 72% of respondents, whilst 76% cite data security risks as barriers to scaling AI initiatives.
- UK finance leaders manage an average of 14 legal entities, 11 banking relationships and 10 core finance systems, with only 78% saying their systems are sufficiently connected to support AI use cases.
- Greater automation of reporting and reconciliation ranks as the top priority (46%), followed by a single real-time view of cash across entities (43%) and improved system interoperability (42%).
