Live Updates
Deloitte Canada and Stablecorp, the first compliant Canadian dollar stablecoin provider, have announced a strategic alliance to deliver QCAD-based stablecoin infrastructure tailored for financial institutions in Canada.
Soumak Chatterjee, Partner, Financial Services and Payments Leader at Deloitte Canada, said, “Stablecoins present a significant opportunity for Canada’s payments landscape. This collaboration helps us enable capabilities that are critical for our banking sector to lead this change, unlock greater innovation in Canadian payments, and ensure global competitiveness. We’re excited to work with Stablecorp to drive impact for our clients and the broader Canadian financial services industry.”
This partnership anticipates forthcoming developments in the federal government’s stablecoin framework and legislation (Bill C-15), positioning both organisations at the forefront of digital asset innovation within the country.
By combining Deloitte’s extensive expertise in payments and financial services transformation with Stablecorp’s regulated digital asset infrastructure, the alliance aims to modernise Canada’s financial landscape to meet the demands of a 24/7 economy. Leveraging blockchain’s inherent advantages, speed, immutability, traceability, and efficiency will enable solutions that are robust, compliant, and scalable.
Enabling new and enhanced financial products
The partnership will empower banks and other financial institutions to harness digital assets to develop innovative products and services or enhance existing offerings by making them faster, more cost-effective, and efficient.
Kesem Frank, CEO of Stablecorp, said, “We believe the benefits of the Canadian digital dollar should be accessible to everyone. Unlocking the benefits of blockchain, such as instant settlement and low-cost transactions, for everyday Canadians requires more than just technology; it requires trust.
“Working with Deloitte Canada is a major opportunity to unlock QCAD’s benefits for all. Leveraging Deloitte’s proven payments knowledge and experience alongside our technology allows us to introduce innovation through the systems Canadians already use and trust, in a way that is safe, measured, and secure,” he added.
Integrating stablecoin innovation within legacy financial systems
While consumer adoption of digital assets has grown, the transformative potential lies in modernising established financial infrastructure.
Deloitte and Stablecorp will partner with financial institutions to integrate QCAD into existing platforms and operational environments securely and compliantly.
The collaboration focuses on identifying high-friction points in current banking use cases where QCAD can deliver immediate, measurable efficiencies. Key areas of focus include i) enabling 24/7 instantaneous movement of collateral globally ii) reducing costs and settlement times between financial institutions iii) streamlining international transfers using QCAD iv) facilitating on-chain B2B payments, trade finance flows, and working capital solutions for global operations.
Together, Deloitte and Stablecorp are setting a new standard for digital payments, paving the way for a more efficient, resilient, and inclusive Canadian financial ecosystem.
