On 27 April, Banking Circle S.A. (Banking Circle) launched its stablecoin settlement services, which is a significant move for the convergence of traditional banking and digital assets.

This offering provides a comprehensive suite of fiat-to-stablecoin and stablecoin-to-fiat capabilities directly from the bank’s core platform.

The launch follows Banking Circle’s successful receipt of a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) on 15th April 2026. It signals a new chapter in the bank’s expansion into digital asset services.

Growing role of stablecoins in financial services

With increasing regulatory clarity and rising institutional participation, stablecoins are becoming integral to next-generation financial services.

The global stablecoin market has a market capitalisation of about €250 billion, with annual payment transactions around €330 billion and monthly on-chain volumes exceeding €8 trillion.

Laust Bertelsen, CEO of Banking Circle, said, “The award of our CASP license is an important milestone for Banking Circle, as well as for the broader payments ecosystem. Stablecoins have fast evolved from a peripheral innovation into core infrastructure for cross-border settlement, treasury management, and financial inclusion.”

“We are proud to be at the forefront of bringing these capabilities to market within a robust regulatory framework,” he added.

Integrated solution for efficient settlement

Banking Circle’s stablecoin settlement service is designed to offer a fully integrated solution for institutions seeking to leverage the speed and efficiency of stablecoin payment rails.

The solution eliminates inefficiencies in traditional global settlement systems by offering 24/7 blockchain-based payments while adhering to the compliance, security, and risk management standards of a regulated bank.

Banking Circle’s platform allows clients to easily convert and transact between fiat currencies and major stablecoins such as USDC, USDG, and EURI.

The service includes instant settlement and full regulatory traceability, improving transparency and operational efficiency.

Kirit Bhatia, Chief Digital Asset Officer at Banking Circle, said, “We have spent years building the financial infrastructure that enables more than 750 payment companies, financial institutions, and marketplaces to efficiently move and convert over €1.5 trillion annually across the globe. Stablecoins are a natural extension of that infrastructure and central to our mission of eliminating unnecessary cost and complexity through technology.”

Banking Circle’s stablecoin settlement services place the bank at the leading edge of the changing financial landscape by allowing clients to effectively use digital assets in a secure and regulated setting as global payments move toward real-time solutions.
