Association Of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA)

Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) is a global member association dedicated to promoting standardisation within the financial industry through the application of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) principles. Its members and partners are responsible for the allocation and promotion of ISIN, FISN, and CFI codes for financial instruments across global markets.

Founded in 1992 by 22 national numbering agencies, ANNA has grown to include more than 120 members and partners worldwide, each operating within their local jurisdictions. Through collaborative engagement with market participants, regulators, and other standards bodies, ANNA oversees robust governance frameworks for the development, allocation, and sharing of financial instrument identifiers, supporting transparency, interoperability, and market integrity.

Under ANNA’s stewardship, the ISIN has become the recognised global standard for the unique identification of financial and referential instruments, enabling efficient global financial communication and reducing barriers to market access. ANNA also established the Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB), a fully automated global numbering agency designed to meet the operational and regulatory requirements of the over-the-counter derivatives markets.
