Blooms raises $2.6M to advance AI trade finance infrastructure for agri exporters

Wilmington-based fintech firm Blooms has raised $2.6 million in seed funding to scale its AI-enabled trade finance infrastructure. The round was led by SP Ventures, with participation from Angel Ventures, The Yield Lab Latam, Eqwow Ventures, Glocal Managers, and Mercy Corps Ventures.

The company develops financial tools aimed at improving access to working capital and simplifying cross-border transactions for Latin American agricultural exporters to the United States and Canada.

Blooms’ platform facilitates faster access to liquidity through receivables purchasing and pre-shipment financing. The company assumes credit risk on receivables in the importing country, enabling exporters to convert sales into capital more quickly. It also offers advanced funding by purchasing future receivables tied to production cycles.

To support settlement efficiency, Blooms has partnered with Monex, a US-based financial institution, to deliver cross-border payments and FX services that allow exporters to receive payment in local currency through domestic banking rails in the importing market. This process reduces settlement timeframes and mitigates operational risks tied to international transfers.

Blooms is also developing a data analytics tool that is intended to offer exporters increased visibility into transaction histories and cash flow patterns with the goal of improving forecasting accuracy and supporting financial planning.

The company, which positions its platform as a sector-specific solution tailored to the financial realities of small and mid-sized exporters in perishable goods supply chains, is expected to focus near-term efforts on scaling operations across Latin America.

By targeting gaps in trade finance and FX for a defined user group, Blooms enters a growing segment of platforms aimed at improving efficiency in global commerce.
