The Institute of International Banking Law & Practice is a non profit educational and research organisation based in the United States, focused on the harmonisation of letter of credit law and practice. Since its formation in 1987, the Institute has played a central role in advancing legal and operational standards across the global letter of credit community.

The Institute convenes banks, law firms, regulators, importers, exporters, and third party intermediaries through interactive forums, training programmes, and educational events designed to promote the exchange of ideas and best practice. Its Annual Survey of Letter of Credit Law and Practice Conference is widely regarded as the leading global event for the LC community, held across major financial centres worldwide. The Institute also hosts an annual LC Law Summit for legal practitioners, alongside regional and on site training programmes and seminars.
