ETC Group
ETC Group is an international research and action collective focused on social and environmental justice, human rights, biodiversity and the defence of fair and ecological food systems. Its work examines how emerging technologies, corporate strategies and growing concentrations of economic power affect agriculture, communities and the wider environment. The organisation conducts research, produces reports and analysis, and works with civil society organisations and social movements to challenge corporate controlled technological systems and promote alternatives that put people, communities and ecosystems first.
The organisation traces its origins to a 1977 international meeting on seeds in Saskatchewan, Canada. Its work later developed through the Rural Advancement Foundation International before adopting the ETC Group name in 2001. Today, it operates as a small international collective, with staff based across Canada, Argentina, India, Mexico, Uganda and the UK, while maintaining partnerships and engagement with organisations and movements around the world.
