Burgan Bank AŞ traces its origins to 1989, when it was founded as Tekfen Yatırım Finansman Bankası AŞ. Initially focused on corporate and investment banking, the bank established itself as a respected financial institution in Türkiye. In 2001, it expanded into commercial banking following the acquisition of Bank Ekspres, marking a new phase of growth.

In 2006, a strategic partnership between Tekfen Group and Eurobank EFG led to the bank operating under the name Eurobank Tekfen. A further transformation followed in December 2012, when the Burgan Bank Group acquired a 99.26% stake, becoming the majority shareholder. The bank formally began operating as Burgan Bank AŞ in January 2013.

Burgan Bank AŞ is majority owned by the Kuwait-based Burgan Bank Group, a leading financial services provider in the Middle East and North Africa. The Group holds majority interests in banks across Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, and Tunisia, supporting Burgan Bank AŞ’s regional connectivity and international banking capabilities.
