Viaservice-Ke partners with Maersk to simplify container management with digital trade financing in Kenya
- Viaservice-Ke, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based Viatrans SA, has partnered with Maersk to offer Viaservice Container Solution (VCS), a digital trade financing platform for Kenya’s logistics sector.
- The platform supports freight forwarders and logistics stakeholders by facilitating financing for container-related transactions, improving cash flow, and enabling faster container release without large refundable deposits.
- Traditionally, container release requires a deposit refunded only after container return, tying up significant working capital; VCS provides advance payment facilities on demurrage, damage, and total loss on a reimbursement basis.
- This arrangement preserves liquidity for day-to-day operations, reduces administrative burdens, and accelerates cargo movement across the supply chain.
- The partnership expands VCS’s reach beyond Tanzania to Kenya, a key regional trade hub, enhancing operational efficiency and liquidity management for businesses using the Port of Mombasa.
- Viaservice and Maersk will also engage in customer education and stakeholder initiatives to increase adoption and support Kenya’s trade and economic development goals.
