Live Updates
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group has achieved a significant strategic milestone with the approval of its Five-Year Corporate Strategies for 2026-2030. These strategies, covering the Bank and each of its affiliates, translate the Group’s long-term vision into a concrete medium-term agenda for action.
H.E. Dr Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group, said, “The approval of the Five-Year Corporate Strategies marks a defining moment in the IsDB Group’s journey to translate strategic vision into disciplined implementation. It reflects our shared commitment to serving our member countries with greater focus, excellence, and coherence. These strategies are designed to strengthen impact, improve delivery, and better serve our member countries and communities.”
The strategic context
The strategies were formally approved on 26-27 April 2026 by the IsDB Board of Executive Directors alongside the Boards of Directors of the Group’s affiliates – the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit, the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation.
This is the first implementation cycle under the IsDB Group’s Ten-Year Strategic Framework 2026-2035. It was endorsed by the Bank’s Board of Governors and the affiliates’ General Assemblies during the 2025 Annual Meetings held in Algiers.
The strategies also build on the direction set by the “In Riyadh at Fifty” Declaration, adopted at the 2024 IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Riyadh, which commemorated the Bank’s 50th anniversary.
Launch of the new IsDB Group Model
The Five-Year Corporate Strategies are linked through a new strategic framework, marking the start of the New IsDB Group Model.
This model would improve service delivery, ensure better coherence, and enhance development impact across the Group while maintaining institutional ownership.
The strategies outline a clear plan to support member countries and Muslim communities in a dynamic development environment.
They focus on enhanced country responsiveness, more effective delivery mechanisms, broader mobilisation of finance and partnerships, and coherent deployment of complementary capabilities across the Group.
Development process and next steps
Anchored in three guiding principles, “Deliver at Scale,” “Deliver with Excellence,” and “Deliver as One”—the strategies prioritise six factors.
This includes i) scaling development delivery ii) improving operational performance iii) strengthening portfolio health iv) deepening partnership-based mobilisation v) reinforcing Group-wide coordination vi) maintaining prudence and financial sustainability.
The strategies were developed through an extensive process involving strategic diagnostics, institutional assessments, financial analysis, consultations with member countries and stakeholders, and broad engagement with management and technical teams across the Group.
With approval secured, the Group now moves into the operationalisation phase.
These are organisational alignment, development of thematic and sectoral strategies, country engagement approaches, implementation of results systems, including a Group-level results management framework, and phased workplans for the 2026-2030 cycle.
The IsDB Group’s Five-Year Corporate Strategies lay the foundation for a more focused, effective, and coherent model of development partnership in the coming years.
This strategic agenda positions the Group to better support its member countries and communities, driving sustainable development and economic growth aligned with Islamic finance principles.
