The Loan Market Association (LMA) acts as the authoritative voice of the syndicated loan market in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). It works with lenders, borrowers, law firms, and regulators to promote the syndicated loan product, improve market liquidity and efficiency, and remove barriers to entry for new market participants. The organisation supports its membership through the development of standard market documentation, educational initiatives, regulatory advocacy, and the promotion of market best practices.

Since its establishment, the association has grown to include over 900 member organisations, including commercial and investment banks, development finance institutions, central banks, and institutional investors across 68 jurisdictions. It represents these members’ interests through active participation in institutional committees and working groups, aiming to foster a transparent and orderly loan market across the EMEA region.
