European Banking Authority
The European Banking Authority is an independent EU agency that works to ensure the integrity and robustness of the banking sector across the European Union. Its mission is to support the stability and effectiveness of the European financial system by developing technical standards and guidelines, contributing to the creation of the European Single Rulebook in banking, and conducting regular risk assessments and EU-wide stress tests.
The EBA holds regulatory and supervisory responsibilities in areas including ICT-third party service provision and the issuance of asset-referenced and e-money tokens, particularly in the context of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the Markets in Crypto-assets Regulation (MiCA). Its workforce is distributed across 25 countries, with its primary operations in France and Germany.
